Our Club
Founded in 1970, the Irish Setter Club of Central Connecticut began with a group of passionate Irish Setter breeders in Connecticut. Over the years ISCCC has grown to welcome members from various states on the East Coast from Vermont to New Jersey!
One of our primary objectives, as stated in our constitution, is to conduct specialty shows, obedience trials, field trials, and other events sanctioned by the American Kennel Club. We are proud and honored to have had the 1995 and 2002 #1 Irish Setters in the U.S. bred and owned by club members. Our members compete in obedience, hunt tests, and agility. Our members have also worked with their Irish to become Certified Therapy Dogs. We have members who joined because they adopted a Rescue Irish from us and wanted to be part of our group. Some members no longer have an Irish Setter, but want to stay in touch with the breed. All of these members bring their own unique viewpoint to the group and help us to explore all aspects of our wonderful red dogs. Each year the club sponsors a dog at N.E.A.D.S. in training to become a Service Dog.
We have bimonthly membership meetings at various locations in Connecticut. We hold multiple conformation Specialty shows, in May and October. We march with our dogs, adorned with green ribbons around their necks, in the Hartford St. Patrick's Day parade. Many years we sponsor a Symposium in April, offering classes in show handling, obedience, field work, and grooming. See the Events calendar for a schedule of our activities.
